How we work together.

The agreement between you and Motherhood Begins when you book or attend a visit. Last updated September 2026.

What we provide

Motherhood Begins provides lactation and infant feeding consultation, education, and support. We assess feeding, offer evidence-based guidance, and create care plans. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, prescribe medication, or replace care from your physician, your baby's pediatrician, or a midwife.

Not a substitute for medical care

If you or your baby have an urgent concern, such as signs of dehydration, fever in a newborn, difficulty breathing, or a mental health crisis, contact your provider, go to an emergency room, or call 911. We will always refer you to appropriate medical care when we see something outside our scope.

Booking, payment, and pricing

Visit prices are shown on the Services page and at booking. A credit or debit card is required to book online. Your card is kept on file securely by our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number. We charge the card on file after each visit for the services provided, unless we have agreed otherwise. We accept major credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. For health plans other than Curative, Motherhood Begins is out of network: we provide a superbill on request, you are responsible for submitting it to your insurer, and reimbursement is determined by your plan and is not guaranteed.

Curative members. Motherhood Begins is in network with Curative and bills your Curative plan directly for covered visits. You assign your plan benefits for these services to Motherhood Begins LLC and authorize us to share the information Curative needs to process your claims. You are responsible only for any copay, coinsurance, or deductible your plan applies, which may be charged to your card on file. No travel or convenience fees are added to covered visits. If your coverage can't be verified or a service isn't covered, we'll tell you before your visit, and you may choose to pay privately or reschedule.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Reschedule or cancel free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the appointment time, or you are not available for the visit when your lactation consultant arrives, a $100 fee is automatically charged to the card on file. If we must cancel, we will offer the next available time or a full refund of any prepayment.

Refunds and packages

Fees for completed visits are non-refundable, because you are paying for Isabel's time and expertise and feeding outcomes cannot be guaranteed. If you are unhappy with a visit, please tell us within 7 days and we will work with you to make it right.

The Newborn Care Package is paid in full at booking. Each visit in a package is valued at its regular price, reduced by the same percentage discount the package gives, based on the price you paid. You may request a refund of unused package visits within 6 months of your first visit, and each unused visit is refunded at that discounted value.

For example, the regular prices of the three visits total $825 ($325 for the initial visit and $250 for each follow-up). At the package price of $675 (18% off), an unused follow-up visit is refunded at $204.55. At the founding-family price of $599 (27% off), the same unused visit is refunded at $181.52.

Instead of a refund, you may apply unused visits to any other service of equal or lesser regular price within 6 months of your first visit. Unused visits that are not refunded or used within that time expire and have no cash value.

A package visit cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed, is subject to the same $100 fee, automatically charged to the card on file, as described above. The visit itself stays on your account.

Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method, including HSA and FSA cards, within 10 business days. To request a refund, email isabel@motherhoodbegins.com.

Home visits

For in-home visits you agree to provide a safe environment and to secure pets during the visit. We may end a visit if we feel unsafe, without refund. Home visit prices include travel within our service area: Central Austin, Mueller, North Austin, Northeast Austin, Northwest Austin, Jollyville, Anderson Mill, Four Points, River Place, Steiner Ranch, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Barton Creek, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Spicewood, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Pflugerville. Visits outside that area are by arrangement, and any travel fee is confirmed before you book.

Virtual visits

Virtual consultations use a platform we choose for its security. You are responsible for your own device and connection. If a connection fails, we will reschedule the remaining time at no charge.

Your responsibilities

You agree to give us accurate information about your and your baby's health, to tell us about changes, and to follow up with medical providers when we recommend it. You are responsible for decisions about your baby's feeding and care.

Follow-up messaging

Message support included with a visit covers questions related to that visit's care plan for the stated number of days. It is not an emergency service, and replies come during business hours. Complex questions may need another visit.

Privacy

Our privacy notice explains how we handle your information and is part of these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by Texas law, Motherhood Begins is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from our services, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid for the visit in question. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
